Job Description
Job Title: Electrician, Journeyman

Qualifications:
Candidate for journeyman electrician positions must have a working knowledge of basic math that includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Candidate must also be proficient in reading, writing and speaking common English vocabulary. Electrical construction experience is required.

Duties/Responsibilities: Job Functions:
Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly,  hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Follow diagrams or blueprints, insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit or wire, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender. Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by insulation from terminal lead with knife or pliers, twisting or otherwise hooking wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment and install grounding leads. Tests continuity of circuits to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as volt/ohm meter. Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. May repair faulty equipment or systems.
